Planning for city’s Fourth of July celebration underway
Trenton’s Fourth of July celebration is moving forward, with key plans already in place. The city’s contract for the fireworks display has been signed and will be the evening of July 4.
Fundraising is a major focus as organizers work to cover the cost of the fireworks. Donations may be dropped off at Trenton City Hall. Checks should be made payable to the City of Trenton, with “Fireworks” written on the memo line.
A full slate of community activities are also planned. The VFW and Daughters of the American Revolution will host an information and ice cream sales booth in Eastside Park while the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce will coordinate food trucks. The Elks Lodge will hold a community barbecue at noon with proceeds benefiting a local charities. Main Street Trenton will hold its farmers market and the city’s parks department will offer $1 admission to the aquatic center during the afternoon of July 4.
Community organizations, businesses and groups that want to be part of the celebration must register their events by May 15. Those interested can call (660) 359-1434.
Organizers also seek volunteers willing to place flags around the courthouse on the morning of July 4 and remove them that evening.
A final coordination meeting will be held in June.
