University of Missouri Extension will offer Stay Strong, Stay Healthy classes in Trenton this fall to help older adults improve strength, balance, flexibility and overall fitness.

University of Missouri Extension will offer Stay Strong, Stay Healthy in Trenton this fall to help older adults improve strength, balance, flexibility and overall fitness.

Classes will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 22 through Nov. 19, at the Grundy County Extension office, 121 E. Ninth St.

Each class in the beginner-friendly strength training program will include a warm-up, eight strength exercises that can be adjusted for different fitness levels and a cool down. All exercise equipment will be provided.

Adults 60 and older who live in Grundy County or a neighboring county and can attend at least nine of the 18 classes will have their class cost covered by Young at Heart. Other opportunities to attend at no cost may also be available. Contact the Grundy County Extension office for details.

“I’m excited to offer Stay Strong, Stay Healthy again in Trenton this fall,” said Micah Potgieter, a nutrition and health specialist with University of Missouri Extension. “The exercises can be adjusted for different fitness levels, so participants can work at a level that is comfortable for them while building strength and confidence.”
