Trenton Golf Takes 4th in Lawson Invitational

Trenton turned in a strong team showing in the Lawson Invitational, placing fourth out of 15 teams with a team score of 337.

The Bulldogs were led by Drake Weaver, who shot a 78 to finish in a tie for fourth overall. Weaver earned a bronze medal for his performance.

Thomas Roberts also earned bronze medal honors for Trenton, carding an 82 to tie for ninth overall.

Malachi Kottwitz gave the Bulldogs another solid round, finishing with an 85. Garrison Otto added a 92, while Jace McCall rounded out the Trenton lineup with a 95.

Carrollton won the team championship with a score of 302. East Buchanan finished second with a 329, followed by Lawson in third with a 330. Trenton was just seven strokes behind third place and finished ahead of Plattsburg, Brookfield, Gallatin, Penney, Excelsior Springs, Orrick, Mid-Buchanan, Lexington, Princeton, Lathrop and Lafayette County.

The Bulldogs’ fourth-place finish was built on consistent scoring throughout the lineup, with three golfers shooting 85 or better. Weaver and Roberts provided Trenton with two medalists near the top of the individual standings, while Kottwitz’s 85 helped keep the Bulldogs in position for a high team finish.

Trenton’s team score was calculated from its top four rounds. Weaver, Roberts, Kottwitz and Otto combined for the Bulldogs’ 337.
