Grundy County Back-to-School Event Aug. 6

Bright Futures collects supplies at their pack-the-bus events to help support families in need as students go back to school.
Students and families throughout Grundy County will have opportunities to receive school supplies, clothing and other assistance during the Grundy County Back-to-School Event on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Activities will be offered at several locations in Trenton and at schools in Laredo, Spickard and Galt.
Trenton R-IX and Head Start students may receive school supplies and backpacks from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Trenton Middle School gym. Pass the Pride, which distributes donated school apparel, will also be available at that location.
Trenton R-IX registration and fee assistance, free and reduced-price lunch applications and information from First Student Bus will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. in the TMS commons.
New Soles for Bright Futures will distribute free shoes to those in need from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Trenton High School gym. Hygiene supplies, underwear and socks will also be available.
Information booths, Food Pals applications and recycled gym shoes will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. in the THS commons.
Haircuts will be offered from 4 to 7 p.m. in the TMS sixth-grade wing. The First Baptist Church will provide clothing for people of all ages from 4 to 6 p.m., while Trenton Cinema will offer free popcorn and drinks during the same period.
The Trenton Kiwanis Club will hold a cookout from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the TMS picnic area.
The day will conclude with a BTC Bank pool party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Trenton Aquatic Center.
Students attending Laredo R-7 School may receive school supplies from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school. School supplies will be distributed at Spickard R-2 School from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Grundy R-5 students will receive assistance by appointment. Families may contact Stacey Russell at srussell@grundyr5.k12.mo.us to arrange a time.
