Cookie Crawl Glow 5K Set For Saturday In Jamesport

Girl Scout Troop 2832 will bring its annual Cookie Crawl Glow 5K back to Jamesport on Saturday, June 20, offering area residents an evening of exercise, glowing decorations and Girl Scout cookies.

The event will be held at Jamesport City Park, 708 Broadway St. Check-in and pre-race activities are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by the start of the 5K at 8:30 p.m. Activities are expected to wrap up around 10:30 p.m.

The event is open to people of all ages and ability levels. Participants may run the course competitively, walk with family and friends or complete the route at their own pace.

The course will lead participants through the countryside near Jamesport. Because the event will take place after sunset, organizers are encouraging those taking part to wear neon clothing and bring glow sticks, lights or other illuminated accessories.

The lights are intended to make participants easier to see while also creating the colorful nighttime setting that has become a central part of the annual event.

Cookies and treats will be available as part of the evening’s activities. Proceeds raised through registration will benefit Girl Scout Troop 2832 and help fund future troop programs, activities and educational opportunities.

“We are so excited to bring the community together for a fun night,” Troop 2832 said.

“Whether you want to sprint or take a casual stroll, the glow run is a great chance to enjoy the countryside at night, eat some great cookies and support local Girl Scouts.”

Registration costs $20. Those planning to attend may purchase tickets in advance through Eventbrite, where additional processing fees may apply, or register in person during check-in Saturday evening.
