The Trenton High School band held its spring concert May 7, featuring a variety of musical selections, recognition for five seniors and updates on the group’s upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.

The concert included several pieces that gave the audience a wide range of musical styles, from energetic concert band selections to familiar music from popular entertainment. The band performed “Kinetic Dances” by Randall Standridge, “Sadness and Sorrow” by Michael Brown from the anime “Naruto,” “The Great Galop” by Randall Standridge and “How to Train Your Dragon” by Sean O’Loughlin.

One of the more lighthearted moments of the evening came during “The Great Galop,” which featured the use of several rubber chickens as part of the performance. The addition brought humor to the concert while giving the students a chance to showcase a fun and creative side of the program.

The evening also included ceremonies recognizing the band’s five seniors, Issac Bonta, Faith Elliot, Katy Simpson, Alyssa Bunnell and Shelby Romesburg. Assistant Band Director Ray Phillips conducted during the concert and presented awards to the seniors in the absence of Director Anthony Webb.

The senior recognition portion of the program gave the band an opportunity to honor students for their dedication and contributions to the music program. Each senior was recognized as part of the evening’s ceremonies.

In addition to the performances and awards, the band also shared updates on its upcoming trip to Washington, D.C., which will take place May 23. The trip has been an important focus for the program, giving students an opportunity to represent their school while also experiencing educational and cultural opportunities outside the classroom.
