The Grundy County Health Department will host a fall baby shower for expectant mothers in Grundy County with due dates from September through February. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, in the department’s education annex, 1307 E. 17th St., Trenton.

The baby shower will feature vendors, refreshments, gifts and information about programs and services available to mothers and families. A special infant-feeding class will also be offered at 5:30 p.m.

Christina Ferguson, the department’s WIC-certified registered dietitian, will discuss infant-feeding options and answer questions from participants.

“Having a baby brings a lot of excitement, but it can also bring a lot of questions,” Shelby Roof-Ewald, community health nurse with the Grundy County Health Department, said. “This baby shower is a time to connect with those who can help, learn something new and enjoy time celebrating this important stage of life.”

Roof-Ewald said the event can be beneficial for both first-time mothers and those who already have children.

“We want moms to feel supported and know they have resources available to them as they prepare for their new baby and continue their journey into motherhood after the baby arrives,” Roof-Ewald said.
