Latin music will take center stage as the 52-member Trenton High School band begins its fall competition season Saturday, Sept. 26, in Carrollton.

Trenton R-9 instrumental music instructor Anthony Webb discussed this year’s field show, “Club Fuego,” and reflected on the band’s Memorial Day trip to Washington, D.C., during the Trenton Rotary Club’s Sept. 17 meeting.

Webb said the band, made up primarily of freshmen and sophomores, has done well with the show, which features a variety of Latin music.

Following its competition in Carrollton, the band will appear at Southern Boone in Ashland on Oct. 10, the Missouri Day Parade on Oct. 17 and in Macon on Oct. 24.

Webb also shared highlights from the band’s trip to Washington, D.C. in May, when Trenton was the only Missouri band among 30 high school bands participating in the Memorial Day Parade.

The band raised approximately $84,000 for the trip. In addition to marching in the parade, students had opportunities to visit several historic sites.
