Union Coon Creek Baptist Church is preparing to continue its 31-year tradition of sharing Thanksgiving meals with area residents, but volunteers are needed for workdays beginning in October.

The church, located at 750 Crow Lane in Trenton, is seeking help organizing supplies, making homemade noodles, baking, preparing turkeys, packaging meals and making deliveries for Thanksgiving on Nov. 26.

“What started 31 years ago has become a tradition that so many people look forward to,” said organizer Dianna Crawford. “We’re thankful for the volunteers who continue to give their time and energy. We’re excited to share a meal, offer a little encouragement, and most importantly, show the love of Jesus to those around us.”

Cleaning and preparation workdays will begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 23 and 24. Volunteers will make homemade noodles beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 30.

Additional workdays for preparation, baking and other tasks are scheduled for Nov. 13, 14, 16, 17 and 19-21, beginning at 9 a.m. each day.

Turkey preparation will begin at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 23-25 and last about three hours each day. Other projects will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Thanksgiving Day activities will begin at 4 a.m., with volunteers welcome throughout the morning to help prepare, package and deliver meals. The pastor will lead a time of prayer and encouragement at 9 a.m. before delivery routes begin. Meal pickup will begin at 11 a.m.
