Trenton Rolls Past Milan In 15-0 Shutout

Trenton scored in every inning and collected 14 hits Sept. 24, rolling to a 15-0 softball victory over Milan in four innings.
The Bulldogs, now 6-8, paired a balanced offensive attack with a combined shutout from Emma Welch and Kimberly Clark. Trenton took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, added five runs in the second and scored four each in the third and fourth to finish the game.
Clark led the Bulldogs with four RBIs, going 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Betsy Price also finished 2-for-3, driving in two runs and scoring twice, while Makayla Mejia doubled and drove in two runs as part of a two-hit performance.
Lillian Ortega went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Welch also scored three times, drawing three walks and driving in a run.
Trenton received contributions throughout the lineup. Morgan Smith had a hit, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored, while J. Gannon and R. Sharp each added a hit and an RBI. Lucy Price doubled and scored, Kenlie McCall singled and scored, and Claire Woodard added a hit and a walk.
The Bulldogs drew seven walks and did not strike out. They also kept pressure on Milan on the bases, collecting 19 stolen bases. Welch led the team with four steals, followed by Betsy Price and Ortega with three apiece and Smith with two.
Welch earned the pitching victory, striking out four and walking one over three scoreless innings. She allowed four hits before Clark worked a scoreless fourth, surrendering one hit without a walk.
Milan finished with five hits and left four runners on base. Trenton stranded three runners.
The Bulldogs will compete in the La Plata Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3.
