Art’s Alive, a community arts organization in Trenton, has announced its 2026-27 season, featuring four concerts, a community theater production and the return of its annual gingerbread contest.

Following its first full season last year, Art’s Alive will again present its events in partnership with the Trenton High School Fine Arts Department. Performances will include music ranging from bluegrass and folk to a revue celebrating famous duos, along with comedy, ventriloquism and local theater.

The mission of Art’s Alive is to provide affordable entertainment, promote fine arts education and expose residents of Grundy County and surrounding areas to many forms of artistic expression.

“It Takes Two — A Legendary Duo Revue” will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Trenton Performing Arts Center.

Globally recognized entertainers Erinn Dearth and Dan Beckmann of “Letters From Home” will present the musical journey celebrating famous duos throughout history. The performance will feature tributes to musicians such as Johnny Cash and June Carter, on-screen pairs including Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and pop culture favorites such as Batman and Robin.

The show combines classic songs, Broadway selections, comedy sketches, harmonies and audience-friendly humor designed for multiple generations.

Lindley Creek, a southern Missouri bluegrass band, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the performing arts center.

The family band blends traditional bluegrass roots with modern influences and original arrangements. Its music includes songs dating to the 1800s as well as original compositions.

Lindley Creek features Kathie Greer on guitar and vocals; her husband, John Greer, on bass; their daughter, Katie Greer, on mandolin and lead vocals; and their son, Jase Greer, on fiddle and harmony vocals. Kathie, Katie and Jase Greer also contribute to the band’s songwriting.

Local actors will take the stage for the community theater production of “Play On” at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23; and 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the performing arts center.

The comedy follows a theater group attempting to stage a play while dealing with a demanding author who repeatedly changes the script. The production moves from a troubled rehearsal to a disastrous dress rehearsal and finally to an opening-night performance in which nearly everything goes wrong.

Elizabeth Hackathorn will direct the production, which will feature local performers.

Art’s Alive will host its fourth annual Holiday Gingerbread Contest on Friday, Dec. 4, during Trenton’s Downtown Christmas festivities sponsored by Trenton Five Points Alive.

Prizes will be awarded in several categories, and visitors will vote for the People’s Choice Award. Winners will be announced during the evening’s closing ceremonies.

Nationally recognized ventriloquist and comedian Todd Oliver will perform with Irving the Talking Dog at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2027, in the performing arts center.

Oliver’s family-friendly show includes ventriloquism, comedy, magic, music and audience participation. Irving will be joined by a rotating cast of animal performers and ventriloquist characters. Oliver has appeared on national television programs including “America’s Got Talent” and “The Tonight Show.”

The season will conclude with local favorite Slow Leak at 7 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2027, in the performing arts center.

Slow Leak began as a traditional bluegrass band performing standards and original material before developing a style that incorporates bluegrass, folk and acoustic influences. Its songs draw inspiration from heartbreak, happiness, triumph and difficult times.

The band includes Cree Mullenix on guitar, Sean Cleary on dobro and guitar, Bob Gass on bass, Dirk Ellis on mandolin and guitar and Travis Mullenix on guitar.

Season membership tickets include admission to all season events. Memberships will be sold at the Trenton Hy-Vee customer service desk and Dynamic Tax & Accounting.

Individual tickets will become available approximately two weeks before each event. Trenton High School fine arts students and North Central Missouri College students may attend events free of charge.

Art’s Alive is also seeking sponsors to help support the upcoming season. Sponsorship letters will be mailed to potential contributors.
