NCMC To Celebrate Centennial With Block Party

Submitted

North Central Missouri College invites the community to celebrate 100 years with a Centennial Block Party on Saturday, April 18, from 4 to 9 p.m. on Main Street in front of Geyer Hall.

The free, family-friendly event will bring together employees, alumni, students and community members to honor NCMC’s 100 years of service to the region. The evening will feature live music, food trucks, activities for all ages, giveaways and birthday cake to commemorate the milestone.

Two regionally rooted bands will headline the evening.

Slow Leak will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. Known for blending traditional bluegrass with original compositions, the band delivers rich acoustic harmonies and storytelling shaped by real-life experiences. Band members are Cree Mullenix on guitar, Sean Cleary on dobro and guitar, Bob Gass on bass, Dirk Ellis on mandolin and guitar, and Travis Mullenix on guitar.

Blackwater Revival will take the stage from 7 to 9 p.m., bringing high-energy performances that blend country roots with rock influences. The band’s set list includes current country hits along with Southern and classic rock favorites.

At 6 p.m., NCMC will host a brief recognition program honoring current and former Board of Trustees members, presidents, emeriti and Foundation board members, followed by the serving of free birthday cake.

Several food trucks will be on-site for guests wishing to purchase a meal, including Rolling Cravings, featuring premium all-beef hamburgers, authentic Greek gyros, chicken and fresh-squeezed lemonade; Stotts BBQ, serving traditional barbecue favorites such as ribs and sandwiches, along with loaded nachos and macaroni and cheese; and Sonshine’z Chipotle Bowls, offering fresh, made-to-order bowl options.

Free activities will be available throughout the event, including bounce houses, Giant Jenga, cornhole, face painting and lawn games. Complimentary birthday cake, bottled water and giveaways will be provided while supplies last.

The NCMC Campus Store also will be open from 3 to 5 p.m. during the Block Party, and select donated merchandise and items will be available as part of the celebration.

There is no admission charge and no cost for activities, making the Centennial Block Party an accessible celebration for the entire community. A detailed event timeline and map will be available on the NCMC Centennial website closer to the event.
