The district Rotary Foundation Dinner was the topic of a program presented at the Thursday, Oct. 9 meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club, held at the BTC Bank community room. Scott Sharp presided at the meeting, Dan Wilford gave the prayer and Brian Upton was the sergeant at arms.

Don Purkapile, who was also the program chairman, told members about the dinner that will be held on Nov. 7 at the Madrid Theater in Kansas City. The dinner, which has a 1920’s theme, is a fundraiser for the Rotary International Foundation and will include a raffle, silent auction and wine and whiskey pull along with a program. The Trenton club has purchased a table for the event, having done so each year since the dinner’s inception, which allows members to attend and be part of this special Rotary experience. The table purchase is made with money raised during the club’s annual fish fry.

During the business meeting, final plans were made for the club’s participation in the Missouri Day Festival. Members will meet at 5:30 am on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Southern Bank parking lot to put up U.S. and Missouri flags along the parade route. On Saturday, Oct. 18, members will meet at 7 am at the intersection of Crowder Road and Main Street to line up entries for the parade, which is sponsored by the club. Members were also reminded to sign up for the Salvation Army bellringing, which the club will do on Friday afternoons from Nov. 17 to Dec.19.

The program for the Oct. 16 Rotary meeting will be presented by Trenton FFA advisor Sadie Stimpson, who will tell about a conservation grant the local FFA chapter has received.
