Bulldogs play Homecoming Game Against Gallatin

The Trenton Bulldogs hosted Gallatin at C.F. Russel Stadium for Trenton’s Homecoming Game. Despite Trenton’s efforts, Gallatin ended up winning the game with a final score of 15-42. This brings Trenton’s record to 0-4.
Trenton started by kicking off to Gallatin after losing the toss. Gallatin started their offensive drive on the far 35-yard line. Trenton fought the Bulldogs down the field until on the 21-yard line, headed towards the end zone, Cooper Houser made a tackle on a receiver, preventing Gallatin from converting on fourth down.
Now, on offense, Trenton started their drive on the 29-yard line. However, after two low snaps and a run by Elijah Miller that was stopped short, Trenton chose to punt on fourth down, moving the ball from the 28-yard line to the opposite 38, where Gallatin would start their next drive.
The bulldogs came back with a 23-yard run that was brought down by Cooper Houser, and an 11-yard run brought down by Kolt Matthews. These two plays would bring Gallatin to their 32-yard line, and Trenton would not be able to stop them this time, as the Bulldogs continued their drive to the end zone for a touchdown and a field goal, bringing the score to 0-7.
Gallatin tried an onside kick, which was caught by Daniel Newton on the line, and with it, the Bulldogs started back up on offense on the 48-yard line. Elijah Miller took the ball and ran up the middle for a 7-yard gain. However, on the next play, a fumbled handoff gave Gallatin back the possession, putting Trenton back on defense with minutes left in the quarter.
A few plays later, the second quarter began with Gallatin on the 25-yard line headed towards the end zone. Three plays later, Gallatin scored for a second time, and after a trick play where the center tossed the ball laterally across the field to the quarterback behind a wall of linemen, added eight points to jump out to a 15-0 lead.
Gallatin kicked short again, but this time came up successful, getting back on offense at the 50. Gallatin started their possession with two long runs, getting them to the 10-yard line. However, Chase Foster had a big tackle in the middle, followed by a tackle in the backfield and a blocked pass by Camden Skipper. This forced the Bulldogs to go for a field goal, which Brayden Holtzclaw blocked.
Bradley Miller, now in possession at the 10, handed off to Elijah Miller, who found open field and had a 60-yard run to the 30-yard line. Camden Skipper was then given the ball and ran the rest of the way for a Trenton touchdown. Preston Whitney then kicked for an extra point. Bringing the score to 7-15.
Back on defense, Trenton tried to stop Gallatin from making progress down the field, but after a long drive, they would find the end zone again, along with a two-point conversion, bringing the score to 7-23.
After a kick goes out of bounds, Trenton starts their possession at the 35-yard line. The bulldogs would proceed to move down the field with big runs from Cooper Houser and Sam Ledbetter, setting up for Elijah Miller to find the end zone. However, the kick for an extra point was blocked, leaving the game at 13-23
Following the score, Trenton kicked off to Gallatin, who brought the ball back to the 40. The Bulldogs would make a few plays to get them to first down at the 48-yard line before a long pass to a receiver was brought down by Cooper Houser at the 15-yard line. A play later Gallatin would choose to go for and complete a field goal on second down. This brought the score to 13-26.
With seconds left in the half, Gallatin kicked short to prevent Trenton from attempting to score with no time on the clock. After the ball bounced off a lineman, Gallatin recovered the ball, bringing up the end of the first half.
Trenton would receive coming back from half. Jace McCall was there to catch the ball at the 25-yard line, and proceeded to return the ball all the way down the field. However, a flag thrown near the 35-yard line would bring Trenton back. The bulldogs would make one first down, but then were forced to punt at the 49.
Gallatin started back up on the 19-yard line and spent the rest of the quarter driving down the field a few yards at a time. The start of the fourth quarter would find Gallatin at its 17-yard line. After five plays, the bulldogs would find the endzone and a two-point conversion, bringing their score now to 13-34
Another short kick later, Trenton would gain possession at the 33-yard line. However, due to a penalty, the Bulldogs couldn’t make a first down and were forced to punt on fourth.
Gallatin received the ball on the 43-yard line, and three plays later they would score again off a 30-yard run. A pass to the endzone would add 8 points to their score, resulting in a score of 13-42.
The Bulldogs received once again. This time, with a long kick near the endzone, Trenton would start their drive at the 10-yard line. A few good runs set up Camden Skipper to catch a pass for a gain of 25 yards. Two consecutive runs from Elijah Miller, along with a penalty, would bring the Bulldogs to the 15-yard line. However, after a few plays, Miller would fumble the ball heading into the endzone, giving Gallatin possession at the 1-yard line.
Trenton’s defense came back ready to play, and a high snap gave them an opportunity. Sam Ledbetter tackled Gallatin’s quarterback in the end zone for a safety, making the final score for the game 15-42. Trenton would receive the ball again, but with just a few minutes left, the game ended with the Bulldogs on the 40-yard line.
Next Week Trenton will travel to South Harrison with kickoff at 7 p.m.
