The Grundy County Health Department will host “Flu Shot Fridays” every Friday in October, offering flu vaccinations for individuals of all ages.

Flu shots will be available from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. each Friday in October. Vaccinations are also available on other days by appointment.

Vaccines will be on hand for all ages, including a high-dose formulation for adults 65 and older, which provides additional protection for older adults at greater risk of flu-related complications.

Individuals with insurance are asked to bring their insurance cards, and the health department will bill insurance directly. Free vaccines are available for those without insurance.

Walk-ins are encouraged during the Friday clinic hours. Appointments are welcome but not required.

The health department will also host a Halloween Spooktacular event from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at the health department. All ages are welcome to stop by for an afternoon of fun, treats and flu prevention.

Guests can enjoy refreshments and strike a pose at the Halloween selfie station. Health department staff will be dressed in festive attire.

The Grundy County Health Department also has COVID-19 vaccines available for individuals 65 and older or those ages 18 to 64 with an underlying health condition. The COVID-19 vaccine can be administered at the same time as the flu shot or separately.
