Southside Farm Club Discusses America’s 250th Anniversary

Members of the Southside Farm Club gathered July 15 for their monthly meeting at the home of Marie Dolan, with Jacky Mack serving as hostess.

The afternoon began with a potluck luncheon of salads, sandwiches and desserts. Following the meal, President Janice Belvel called the meeting to order and welcomed guests Jacinda Bouton of Colorado, Betty Mullins and Marcy Meservey.

Members also contributed donations for the local food pantry and the club’s flower and card fund.

Marie Dolan presented a program on the 250th anniversary of the United States. Her presentation reviewed the signing of the Declaration of Independence. She also discussed the Founders’ ideas concerning liberty, equality and natural rights, as well as the colonists’ opposition to taxation without representation.

The Southside Farm Club’s next meeting will be held Aug. 19, with Babette Hill serving as hostess.
