The Trenton High School Class of 1967 recently chose to award three $800 scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing careers in education, healthcare and vocational training.
Members of the Class of 1967 have remained active in the years since leaving Trenton High School and have made supporting graduating seniors a priority. Through regular gatherings and contributions, the classmates have worked to help local students continue their education and prepare for future careers.
Kaidence Griffith received a scholarship as a future science teacher. Ali Cox was selected for a scholarship as a student planning to enter the medical field, while Braydon Holtzclaw received a scholarship to pursue training in automotive and diesel mechanics.
The Class of 1967 collects money for the scholarship fund during its monthly luncheons. The effort reflects the group’s belief in the value of education beyond high school and its desire to support future Missouri workers.
The scholarship program has continued to grow in recent years. In 2023, the class awarded a $700 scholarship to a future teacher. Two $350 post-secondary vocational scholarships were presented in 2024 to students pursuing careers in welding and medical technology.
In 2025, the class awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a future teacher. This year’s three awards totaled $2,400.
The 2026 scholarship fund received donations of $1,000 each from Robert Barnes and Donna Louderback Wilson, along with $230 collected through monthly class contributions. Class members were encouraged to continue contributing to the scholarship box during luncheons to help sustain and expand future awards.
During the recent meeting, classmates started collecting money for 2027 scholarships and discussed plans for their Labor Day weekend reunion. A luncheon and meeting are scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at BTC Bank in Trenton.
