The Dorcas Richardson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its regular meeting on March 2, 2026, in the BTC Bank meeting room on the North Central Missouri College campus. Acting Regent Cindy Guthrie called the meeting to order.

At the opening of the meeting, chapter members honored Larry Huffstutter as the chapter’s Patriot of the Month. The Daughters expressed appreciation for the service of the nation’s veterans and active-duty military personnel. Honoring these individuals through the Patriot of the Month program is a long-standing DAR tradition.

Huffstutter served in the United States Navy from January 1967 through December 1970 during the Vietnam conflict. During his service, he completed three tours in Vietnam and received two Bronze Stars along with several other medals and awards. After completing his military service, Huffstutter returned to Trenton, where he and his family continued to serve the community.

The meeting continued with DAR rituals, pledges, the preamble and the American Creed. Highlights from the President General’s Message and the National Defender publication were presented. Mary Riddle presented the American Indian and Women’s Minute, and Jackie Soptic presented the Conservation Minute.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, volunteer women’s service organization that promotes patriotism, education, historic preservation and community service. Women age 18 or older who can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who aided in American independence are eligible for membership.
