The High School Performing Arts Center was alive with once again Monday night as Arts Alive continued its season with a standout performance by the husband-and-wife duo, Gilly & The Girl.

The duo captivated the audience with a repertoire that included Simon & Garfunkel favorites like “The Sound of Silence,” Fleetwood Mac classics, and the Oscar-winning “Shallow” by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. Their ability to breathe new life into iconic songs drew enthusiastic applause throughout the evening.

Gilly & The Girl showcased the synergy of Mike Gill on guitar/vocals, and his wife, Charity, on lead vocals and hand percussion. When asked how they began performing together, Gilly shared, “We both went to school for theater, so we both performed on stage as actors, at least, but I never wanted to perform musically on stage, because I was too nervous. But the moment that I think we discovered that we were gonna try and pursue being a musical duo, was when a friend of ours approached us and said, ‘You two should get on cruise ships and see the world.’ And that’s what we tried to do, and that’s what, thankfully, we’ve been able to do.”

Their heartfelt and enchanting musical experience features seamless harmonies and soulful performances. With songs that spanned genres and eras, they brought a unique blend of timeless classics and contemporary hits, with songs that anyone over 40 would know.

Art’s Alive next performance will be Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap:

There will be three performances of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap at the Hoover Theatre on the third floor of the Grundy Country Jewett Norris Library the weekend of October 24 and 25. The production is the third of the events in the Art’s Alive 2025-2026 season line-up.

Actors from our local community share their talents in Agatha Christie’s well-known classic: “The Mousetrap.” Directed by Elizabeth Hackathorn, the story follows a group of strangers who are snowed in at Monkswell Manor, and one of them is revealed to be a murderer. As the guests and the owners, the Ralstons, become increasingly suspicious of one another, a police detective arrives to investigate a recent murder with a connection to the manor. The play unravels the pasts of the characters, revealing hidden connections and motives, ultimately leading to the unmasking of the killer.

There are some familiar faces in the cast, as well as some new faces. Joining the cast this year are Ashlen Busick and Caleb Campbell.

Important: It is especially important for season ticket holders to pick up a ticket for their preferred time. As there are only 130 seats in the Hoover Theatre. This will ensure that the audience is spread across all three performances.
