Southside Farm Club Meets
The Southside Farm Club met on Oct. 21, at the home of Judith Urich. The club enjoyed an early Thanksgiving feast of turkey and dressing, with members bringing side dishes, salads and desserts.
After the meal, the meeting was called to order by Janice Belvel. Robin Meservey won the hostess gift by having a sticker on her napkin. Judith posed the roll-call question: “What do you do to de-stress?” Answers varied: Some read Bible devotions, some petted the cat or dog and some listened to music. Favorite artists included Lauren Daigle, a Christian contemporary artist; and the iconic Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, famous for his gentle voice and acoustic ukulele on “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World;”
One member shared a helpful way to take your mind off what you’re stressing about: 1) Name five things you can see; 2) Four things you can hear; 3) three things you can taste; 4) two things you can feel; and 5) one thing you can smell.
Meeting notes were read by Jackie Altenderfer and approved. Thank-you cards were read from Babette Hill and Jessica and Ronnie Surface. A cookbook from the club was given to Judith to pass along to Seanacie Ireland for her upcoming wedding to Kolton Smith.
Judith Urich gave the program, sharing from a book she owns, the “French Aster Birthday Book” (Avon, 1985).
Next month’s meeting will be held at the home of Ellen Dolan on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
