Parents As Teachers Receives Vision Screening Device
The Trenton R-IX Parents as Teachers program received a $7,500 grant for a PlusoptiX S20 vision screener. Trenton is one of 35 school districts in Missouri that received this grant.
The screening device can detect common vision issues in children ages 6 month and older including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, amblyopia, anisometropia, anisocoria and misalignment.
“Results are sent home to parents/guardian for follow-up referrals if needed,” reads a release from the PAT program about how the screening device is used. “Parents as Teachers will bring this free screening to day care centers, home day care, home-schooled and families in Grundy County.”
For more information or to schedule a screening, contact Connie Hoffman or Crystal Hamilton at (660) 339-6266 ext. 3210.
