Grow For Grundy Receives Missouri Prairie Foundation Grant

Grow For Grundy has been awarded a 2026 Prairie Garden Grant from the Missouri Prairie Foundation to establish a native healing garden in Trenton.
The grant will support the renewal of an existing herb circle at the community garden, located at the corner of 18th and Harris streets in Trenton. The project will transform the space into an educational area where residents can learn about plants native to the Midwest and their traditional uses.
Grow For Grundy works to “grow accessible nutrition through a resilient local food system.” Through the new healing garden project, the organization hopes to encourage community members to reconnect with the land while exploring the many beneficial uses of native plants.
“Native plants have been used for centuries to heal and nourish us, and unfortunately we have lost much of that wisdom — and those thriving ecosystems — over time,” Grow For Grundy founder Ashlen Busick said.
“We’re so excited for this opportunity to host community conversations about nature’s remedies and collectively re-discover some of those traditions through this project,” Busick said.
The public will be invited to experience the native healing garden through educational tours and workshops beginning in late summer.
Groups and individuals interested in volunteering for the project or sharing knowledge about the healing properties of native plants may contact Grow For Grundy by emailing growforgrundy@gmail.com
