Trenton turned in a strong performance at the Marshall Tournament, finishing fourth as a team against a field of 18 schools and producing seven individual medalists.

The Bulldogs were led by Cooper Houser, who captured the championship at 132 pounds and scored 24 team points. Houser opened the tournament with consecutive falls before winning a 20-15 decision in the semifinals. He secured the title with a 5-3 decision over Xavier Myers of Lafayette County in the championship match.

Jacob White placed second at 120 pounds, adding 20 team points for Trenton. White reached the finals with three straight wins, including two falls and a decision in the semifinals, before dropping the title bout to Paxton Crane of Hallsville.

Barrett Clark also finished as a runner-up, placing second at 215 pounds. Clark advanced to the finals with three victories before being pinned by Blake Lively of Lebanon in the championship match.

Peyton Baker earned a third-place finish at 285 pounds, scoring 20 team points. Baker recorded four wins, all by fall, including victories in both the consolation semifinal and the third-place match.

Marcus White and Ayden Ortega each placed fourth at 106 and 113 pounds. Marcus White fought through the consolation bracket after a semifinal loss, while Ortega picked up multiple wins by fall on his way to the podium.

Henry Lasley added a fourth-place finish at 165 pounds. After an opening-round loss, Lasley won five straight matches in the consolation bracket, including wins by fall and technical fall, to earn a medal.

Several other Bulldogs contributed points and experience throughout the tournament, including Fisher Young at 150 pounds and Jackson Bethards at 175.

Trenton’s fourth-place team finish against a strong field at Marshall underscored a productive day for the Bulldogs against larger schools as the season continues.
