Holiday Hoops Continues at NCMC

The 21st Annual High School Holiday Hoops Basketball Showcase continued Monday and Tuesday at North Central Missouri College, adding another full slate of competitive matchups as the tournament moves toward its conclusion on the NCMC campus.

Presented by the North Central Missouri College Foundation, Holiday Hoops is being held during the College’s centennial year, celebrating 100 years of learning, growth, and community impact. All games are played inside the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton, with 85 teams from 44 Missouri high schools participating in this year’s event.

Action on Monday, December 29, opened with a pair of wins for North Harrison, as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Tina-Avalon 55–33, followed by a 53–18 boys victory. Putnam County split with Penney, earning a 50–41 win in the girls contest before Penney responded with a 57–45 boys win.

Stanberry posted a sweep over Hale, highlighted by a dominant 76–3 victory in the girls game and a 48–32 win in boys play. North Mercer picked up a 40–34 girls win over Meadville, while Meadville closed the day with a 63–46 victory in the boys matchup.

Tournament play resumed Tuesday, December 30, with Brashear sweeping East Harrison, winning 52–33 in girls action and 64–38 in the boys game. King City followed with a doubleheader sweep over Kingsville, earning a 46–21 girls win and a 61–52 victory in the boys contest.

Lathrop defeated Ewing Marion Kauffman 50–24 in girls play, while Ewing Marion Kauffman rebounded later in the evening with a 52–27 boys win over South Harrison. Chillicothe closed out Tuesday’s schedule with a 43–35 girls victory over South Harrison.

Games continue through Wednesday, December 31, offering seven total days of varsity basketball competition. “Having good matchups is something we pride ourselves on, and we thank the schools for being cooperative and always great to work with,” said committee member Mitch Dougan.

Each participating student-athlete receives a complimentary event t-shirt. Daily admission is $5 for fans ages 13 and older, while children 12 and under are admitted free. A seven-day tournament pass, which includes a program book, is available for $30 at the NCMC Foundation Office. For more information, call 660-357-6403.

Holiday Hoops remains one of Missouri’s premier high school holiday basketball traditions, with all 49 varsity games played on the NCMC campus. Volunteers assist the 12-member Holiday Hoops Committee in managing the event and ensuring a quality experience for athletes, coaches, and fans.
