Coach Croy Hired as Maysville’s Head Football Coach

The Maysville R-I School District is excited to announce the hiring of Wes Croy as the next head football coach for the Wolverines, beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. Coach Croy will also serve as a physical education instructor within the district.

Coach Croy is no stranger to Maysville or the Cemetery Bowl. He previously served as the Wolverines’ head football coach from 1997 through 2000, leading highly competitive teams during his first tenure. The 1998 squad advanced to the state quarterfinals, and Coach Croy compiled a 23-18 record during his time leading the program.

In addition to his success at Maysville, Coach Croy has head coaching experience at Schuyler County, South Harrison, and Trenton, his alma mater. Most recently, he served as the offensive coordinator at Benton High School during the 2025 season under Head Coach Mark Cole, a Maysville graduate.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to return to a program, a school, and a community that meant so much to me early in my coaching career,” said Coach Croy. “It is my hope that we can build a successful program that the community can take pride in.”

Activities Director Tyler Zimmerman shared his enthusiasm for the hire, stating, “Coach Croy returning to the sidelines for the Wolverines is a great addition to our football program. I look forward to working with him and seeing his vision for the Wolverines come to fruition.”

Coach Croy brings an impressive resume, owning a career head coaching record of 119-98. He has led three programsMaysville, South Harrison, and Trenton to quarterfinal or semifinal appearances, has been named Coach of the Year four times, and was inducted into the Missouri Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017.

Coach Croy and his wife, Jenni, have three children. Jenni serves as the head girls basketball coach at William Jewell College. Their son Lathan is the head girls golf coach at Northwest Missouri State University, Salem is a teacher in the Kearney School District, and Kaegen is a student at William Jewell College, serving as a manager for the William Jewell Lady Cardinals basketball team.
