NCMC Beats Southwestern Away from Home

NCMC men’s basketball, ranked 15th in the latest NJCAA DII poll, put together one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, hitting the century mark in a 100–82 win at Southwestern Community College.
The Pirates were powered by a career night from Camden Bennett, who poured in 39 points on 12-of-20 shooting, including six three-pointers, while going a perfect 9-for-9 at the free-throw line. Bennett attacked from all levels and provided a steady scoring presence throughout his 39 minutes on the floor.
Fellow guard Camden Brown delivered 21 points on an impressive 8-of-13 shooting day, adding two assists and two steals to round out an all-around performance.
In the frontcourt, James Porter III was nearly automatic, finishing 7-of-8 from the field for 15 points while controlling the glass with 7 rebounds. Deng Gak added another strong interior showing with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, helping NCMC maintain pace and ball movement.
The Pirates also received meaningful contributions from the bench. Za’Corrie Kerr was highly efficient with 4 points and 8 rebounds in just 13 minutes, while Jon Jon Neff knocked down a three and went a perfect 2-for-2 at the line for 5 points. Talan Holt provided an additional spark, scoring 6 points and grabbing 3 rebounds.
NCMC shot a blistering 63.2% from the field and 57.1% from three, turning in one of its most complete offensive efforts of the season while assisting on 14 baskets and outrebounding the Spartans 34–29.
Next up for the Pirates will be a home matchup on Tuesday with John Wood CC. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm.
