On Friday, Oct. 17, the Trenton Bulldogs hosted the Marceline Tigers at C.F. Russell Stadium. The Trenton Bulldogs had found some success in the previous two weeks against Milan and Maysville, but were unable to beat the Marceline program.
Friday night’s game was moved to an earlier start due to potential weather in the forecast. The game was the last home game of the season and designated as Senior night with senior football players, cheerleaders, band, and color guard members being recognized along with their families.
The game started with Marceline possessing the football and scoring on the opening drive. From the beginning Marceline was in charge, with the Tigers going on to score 46 points in the contest to Trenton’s 10 points. Trenton was able to, at times, move the ball, but turnovers and inconsistencies in both the run and passing game in the end were too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.
Trenton now finds itself with a record of 2-6 on the season with one remaining regular season game at Lone Jack. With the loss Trenton is in last place of the Missouri Class 2 District 8 and will face Mid-Buchannan in the first round of district play.
