Kaylor Hodge Breaks Trenton Hitting Record

Kaylor Hodge stepped up to bat as the sun beat down on the field. Friends and family crowded the fence anticipating a big moment.
The first pitch came in but was too low, a miss. Hodge took a step back to the plate and, this time, the crack of a ball hitting her bat rang out, and with that Hodge went into the record book as the Trenton High School hits leader.
Hodge recorded hit number 150 for her career, breaking the school record, which was previously held by Ainsley Tolson. The record-breaking hit, which was accompanied by cheering and raised signs, took place at the Trenton High School NCMC Nan Carter tournament.
The team started off in the morning against Gallatin, with Hodge five hits away from the record. The Game was close, but Trenton was unable to score, losing the game 0-2.
Trenton then played Albany. This game would see Albany beat the Bulldogs 2-11. However, Hodge picked up two additional hits off of four at-bats. This brought her career hitting record to 147.
Next was Lathrop, going into the seventh Inning, Trenton was tied with the Mules 6-6, but Trenton’s defense couldn’t hold them off, The Bulldogs dropped the game with a score of 6-7. During the game, Hodge picked up two more hits, putting her one game and one hit away from breaking the school record.
Trenton finished the day playing the Schuyler County Rams. During the Game, the Bulldogs would perform with Hodge getting three hits, beating Tolson’s record and raising it from 149 career hits to her current 152. Additionally, Kimberly Clark and Mylee Baker would also have two hits each. Trenton would ultimately win the game 12-3.
