Pirates Romp In Final Tune Up Before Region 16 Play

NCMC men’s basketball rebounded nicely from their defeat at Johnson County and delivered a balanced, efficient offensive performance when they rolled to a 96-58 victory over Link Year Prep on Saturday. The Pirates are now 13-4 ahead of their Region 16 opener on Wednesday against Metropolitan CC. Be sure to wear RED to that game as it is the annual Red Alert matchup. Tipoff is set to follow the women’s game that day.
Camden Brown led the way with a game-high 22 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding two steals in just 20 minutes of action. Camden Bennett followed with 20 points on an efficient 6-of-13 shooting night, including four triples, while also dishing out three assists.
James Porter III was dominant at the free-throw line, going 13-for-14 and finishing with 17 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. Deng Gak also recorded a double-double, posting 16 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four assists and five steals, anchoring both ends of the floor.
Grant Redd orchestrated the offense with seven assists while adding four rebounds, and Za’Corrie Kerr provided a spark off the bench, scoring 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
As a team, the Pirates shot 43.5 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from three-point range, and an impressive 96 percent at the free-throw line, showcasing efficiency and depth in the victory.
