In the heart of Trenton stands a resource for individuals and families facing the challenges of unexpected pregnancies: Life Options Green Hills.

As a nonprofit pregnancy resource center, Life Options serves as the first step for many women and men seeking compassionate support, medical care, and practical resources during a pivotal time in their lives.

Founded on the belief that every person deserves respect and support, Life Options offers a range of free, confidential, and nonjudgmental services. These include pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STI testing and treatment, prenatal vitamins, and access to prenatal and parenting education programs. The center also features a baby boutique, where clients earn points for participating in educational sessions and community activities, redeemable for essential baby supplies.

“Our goal is to be a non judgmental environment,” Jenna Carlock, the executive director of Life Options said. “We don’t care what your background is, your faith, or the situation that brought you here. We’re here to love and support you through whatever you’re facing.”

Life Options also has a counseling room for clients.

The center’s holistic approach is evident from the moment clients walk through the door. Nurse Manager Avery McCauslin is often the first person clients meet, providing medical intake, pregnancy verification, and ultrasounds.

“This is the best picture of holistic care I’ve ever worked in,” Avery said. “Because we address mind, body, and spirit, offering not just medical support but real community.”

Education is at the core of Life Options’ mission. Clients can enroll in a 20-week pregnancy education program, followed by parenting classes that continue until their child’s first birthday. These programs cover everything from prenatal health and labor preparation to baby milestones, safe sleep, and practical life skills. Fathers are encouraged to participate, and specific lessons are designed to support their unique journey.

Michelle Stark, Family Services Manager, emphasizes the importance of adapting the curriculum to each family’s needs.

“We walk alongside our clients, meeting them where they are,” she said. “Sometimes that means helping with job applications, housing, or navigating complex life changes—all while preparing them for parenthood.”

Beyond practical support, Life Options seeks to be a source of lasting encouragement. Many clients return for ongoing support, even after their initial crisis has passed. Some, like one young mother who considered abortion, found stability, employment, and a new sense of purpose with the center’s help. Others who have experienced abortion in the past are connected with aftercare resources for healing and community.

Jenna Carlock, the executive director of Life Options, explains the mission of the facility and how it works to help families.

As a nonprofit, Life Options depends on local donations, church partnerships, and volunteers to continue its mission. The center is actively seeking additional volunteers for roles ranging from reception to event planning, as well as new board members to guide future growth. With expansion goals that include mobile outreach and a possible third site, the need for community involvement has never been greater.

“We are here, ready to love whoever walks through the door,” says Michelle. “Our clients are stronger than they think, and we’re excited to walk this journey with them.”
