Rotary Club: Trenton High School Ag Receives Partnership Award
Submitted
Trenton High School ag instructor and FFA Advisor Sadie Roy Stimpson presented the program at the Thursday, Oct. 16 meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club, held at the BTC Bank community room. Scott Sharp presided at the meeting, Dan Wilford gave the prayer and Brian Upton was the sergeant at arms.
Program chairman Jackie Soptic introduced Mrs. Stimpson, who told about a partnership award she recently received from the Missouri Department of Conservation for working with MDC personnel and implementing various programs within her classroom. The partnership began during Mrs. Stimpson’s first year of teaching at THS, when she worked with the MDC on landscaping at the ag building, including refurbishment of the plow located in front of the building. MDC personnel have also worked with her conservation classes and provided instruction in areas such as pond management, trap shooting, deer measuring and trapping. The trapping instruction includes students learning how to “live off the land” and has resulted in a yearly “Beast Feast” meal, where students cook and eat various wildlife that are caught during the class.
During the business meeting, final plans were made for the Missouri Day Parade, organized by the club and held on Oct. 18.
The program at the Oct. 23 meeting of the Rotary Club will be presented by Israeli refugee Fahid Aby Sinne. Jackie Soptic is the program chairman.
