Trenton FFA Headed to State

Trenton FFA members posted strong performances across several career development and leadership development events in northwest district competition, with two teams bringing home first-place finishes.

At the Northwest District Career Development Events Contest held at Northwest Missouri State University on March 31 and April 1, Trenton teams qualified for state competition in agricultural mechanics, dairy cattle evaluation, dairy foods, food science, meats evaluation and soils.

Leading the way for Trenton was the Meats Evaluation team, which placed first overall. Henry Lasley was named the first high individual, while Camden Skipper placed fourth individually. Other team members were Catelin Bowe and Sarai Birkhead.

The Soils team also captured first place. Morgan Smith placed first individually and Ethan Heckenmuller placed fifth. Other team members were Addisyn Wehar and Braxton Wilson.

The Food Science team placed fourth overall. Team members were Paisley DeVorss, Turner Wagner, Jayden Gannon and Bailey Williams.

In Dairy Cattle Evaluation, Trenton placed sixth. Team members were Claire Woodard, Malachi Kottwitz, Johanna Goodin and Timberlon Hignutt.

The Agricultural Mechanics team placed seventh with team members Henry Link, Matthew Kralicek and Grayson Little.

The Agricultural Sales team also placed seventh. Team members were Caleb Ray, Kale Batson, Titus Kottwitz and Logan Roberts.

The Dairy Foods team finished 10th and also advanced to state competition. Team members were Emma Welch, Adaline Anderson, Paige Little and Rozalea Webb.

The Floriculture team placed 13th to earn the state alternate position. Justin Dixon led the team with a third-place individual finish. Other team members were Kimberly Clark, Lucy Price and Makayla Mejia.

Earlier in the month, Trenton also found success in the Northwest District Leadership Development Events in Cameron.

The Conduct of Chapter Meetings team placed second and advanced to state.Team members were Tyler Detweiler, Ezekiel Kottwitz, Jace McCall, Kenlie McCall, Lane DeVorss, Betsy Price and Landon Olmstead.
