The Dorcas Richardson Trenton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its regular meeting April 6, 2026, in the Evelyn Sheets Genealogy Room at the Historic Jewett Norris Library.
Regent Connie Key called the meeting to order. The meeting continued with DAR rituals, pledges, the preamble and the American Creed. Highlights from the President General’s Message and the National Defender publication were presented. Barb Spencer presented the American Indian and Women’s Minute, and Jackie Soptic presented the Conservation Minute. Sarah Shoberg, library director, provided the program on genealogy resources at the library.
Prior to the meeting, chapter members honored Robert Hehr as Patriot of the Month for April and Ed Arnold as Patriot of the Month for May. The Daughters expressed gratitude for the nation’s veterans and active-duty military. Honoring and recognizing those individuals through the Patriot of the Month Program is a DAR tradition.
Hehr served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and attained the rank of sergeant. He received the Korean Medical Unit of Situation Medal and other honors. Arnold served his country in the Army during the Vietnam era and attained the rank of specialist first class. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifleman recognition and other honors. Both men also served their communities after returning home.
DAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, volunteer women’s service organization that promotes patriotism, education, historic preservation and community service. Women 18 or older who can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who aided in American independence are eligible for membership.
