North Central Missouri College athletics has announced that women’s basketball head coach Joe McKinstry has stepped down after one season leading the Lady Pirates program.

McKinstry guided the Lady Pirates to a 24-8 record during the 2025-26 season, which ended with a runner-up finish in the Region 16 Tournament. His leadership helped continue the program’s strong tradition of success on and off the court.

“We would like to thank Joe and his family for making NCMC their home this past season,” Athletic Director Nate Gamet said. “He did a tremendous job continuing the tradition of excellence for our women’s basketball program, and we wish him the best of luck in his new adventure.”

NCMC expressed appreciation to McKinstry for his contributions to the Lady Pirates program and the campus community during his time in Trenton.

A national search for the next head women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
