Submitted
The Antique Study Club of Grundy County met Friday, March 20, at the home of Bridgette Bunnell, where members approved the minutes of the previous meeting and finalized plans for an upcoming trip to Arrow Rock.
The club confirmed its April 17 visit to the historic Missouri town and discussed several activities to enjoy during the trip. Among the possibilities mentioned was watching “Tom Sawyer,” a film shot in Arrow Rock. Members also talked about visiting homes connected to notable former residents, including Dr. John Sappington, who is known for his role in promoting the use of quinine in the treatment of malaria.
Members were encouraged to decide whether they will attend the April 17 outing.
The meeting also featured a program by Laura Sue Daniels on antique spoons. Daniels brought several silver spoons from her collection and explained how she acquired them over the years. She also highlighted the memories and meanings connected to specific pieces.
The club’s next meeting will be held April 17 in Arrow Rock.
