Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students from Trenton Middle School and Trenton High School are preparing for the Region 2 FCCLA STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) competition, which will be held Jan. 22 in Chillicothe.
A total of 22 students from TMS and THS will compete in the regional event, where they will present projects that highlight leadership, career readiness and real-world problem solving.
In preparation for the competition, FCCLA students gathered at Trenton High School on Jan. 9 for a STAR event showcase. During the showcase, students presented their projects to community members who served as judges. The judges provided feedback to help students refine and strengthen their projects ahead of their first official competition.
Projects showcased included case studies, new inventions and student-developed curriculums that were taught at the elementary school. The STAR events allow students to apply skills learned in Family and Consumer Sciences classes to real-life situations while gaining experience in public speaking, organization and professional presentation.
