Grundy County Health Department to host Halloween ‘Spooktacular’ flu shot event

The Grundy County Health Department invites the community to a Halloween Spooktacular event on Wednesday, October 29, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the Health Department.

All ages are welcome to stop by for an afternoon of fun, treats, and flu prevention. Guests can enjoy refreshments, strike a pose at the Halloween selfie station, and say “Boo to the Flu” by getting their annual flu shot.

“No appointment is necessary — just come by and join the fun,” said Elizabeth Gibson, administrator of the Grundy County Health Department. “Getting your flu shot before the end of October will help protect you from influenza during the upcoming holiday season.”

The Health Department staff will be dressed in festive attire, adding to the spirit of the afternoon. The public is welcome to come in costume if they’d like.

The selfie station will feature a creative, Halloween-themed backdrop, and participants can have their photos sent directly to their phone or email as a fun keepsake. (Photos are for personal use only.)

Flu vaccine is available for people six months and older, Gibson said. A flu vaccine lowers the risk of severe illness and the chances of getting the flu, lessens symptoms if you do get the flu, and helps stop spread of the flu.
