Among the Level 3 competitors, Kinsley Otto and Summer Meeker received a gold medal and state qualification in Focus on Children, while Ashlyn Pagel and Eva Pagel also earned gold and advanced to state in the Nutrition and Wellness category. Makenzie Whipple qualified for state with a silver medal in Interior Design, and Caleb Shell advanced after earning silver in Teach or Train.
At the Level 2 competition, Turner Wagner and Anthony Esquivel earned gold and a state berth for their project in Repurpose and Redesign. Kenlie McCall also earned a gold medal and advanced to state in National Programs in Action. Violet Breitenbucher and Peyton Curd qualified for state with a silver medal in Sports Nutrition, while Jorden Gannon earned gold and state qualification in Promote and Publicize FCCLA.
In addition, Leighton Whipple received a bronze medal for her work in Career Investigation.
Rebecca Smith, the new FCCLA advisor at Trenton High School, said the results reflect the dedication and effort the students put into their projects.
“The students worked extremely hard on their projects, and I’m very proud of the outcomes,” Smith said. “They’re excited to compete at the State Leadership Conference, and our goal is to continue advancing and hopefully reach Nationals in Washington, D.C., this summer.”
The students will now prepare for the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in March, where top performers will have the opportunity to advance to national competition.
