The Southside Farm Club met on January 21, 2026, at the home of Jackie Altenderfer. The afternoon was centered on the theme of “comfort food, games, and friends.” The meeting began with a communal meal featuring roast, potatoes, carrots, and homemade bread, supplemented by a wide variety of side dishes and desserts provided by the members. Guests Brian Altenderfer and David Meservey joined the group for the meal.

President Janice Belvel called the meeting to order following the luncheon. For roll call, 11 members and one guest, Marcy Meservey, answered the question, “What is your favorite game?” Responses spanned generations, including favorites such as Battleship, Pinball, Checkers, Hand & Foot, Pictionary, Cribbage, Sudoku, and Seven Little Words. During the session, Mrs. Ellen Dolan shared a book regarding the work of Ben Pentreath, a prominent London-based architectural and interior designer and co-owner of the shop Pentreath & Hall.

During the business meeting, the club officially welcomed new member Rhonda Clark and presented her with the 2026 program booklet. Marie Dolan presented a thank-you note from Bright Futures for the club’s recent donation. Members also collected monthly dues, contributed to the club’s Flower/Card fund, and gathered donations for the local Food Pantry. Janice Belvel won the hostess gift during the afternoon’s guessing game.

For the afternoon program, Jackie Altenderfer taught the members the card game “31.” After several rounds of play and fellowship, Jeanie Gibson was declared the winner. Janice and Jeanie, the two sisters in attendance, were each presented with makeup totes filled with games, puzzle books, calendars, pens, and notecards for winning their respective games during the meeting.

The next meeting will be held in February with Marti Campbell serving as hostess; the location will be announced at a later date.
