Quentin Barclift of Pattonsburg has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Student for June.
Barclift, a Missouri A Scholarship student, is pursuing an Associate in Arts in Business degree and plans to graduate in May 2027. After graduating from NCMC, he plans to continue his education at Truman State University, where he will pursue a bachelor’s degree in business.
Barclift is actively involved on campus and works as a student employee in the Alexander Student Center and with Great Western Dining. Beginning this fall, he will take on an additional leadership role as a residence assistant.
He is also involved in several student organizations, including the Geology Club, where he serves as vice president, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the First Gen Club.
“I love it at NCMC,” Barclift said. “I like how it is a small campus where everything is close together. Trenton has a really nice downtown area near campus, and it’s a very welcoming community. I like that everyone knows each other and is so kind.”
Outside the classroom, Barclift enjoys trapshooting, axe throwing, helping others, antique shopping and driving while listening to music.
Barclift’s favorite class has been speech with instructor Tammie Wiebers.
“I hated speaking and talking in front of people, but after taking that class, I gained confidence and learned how to communicate more effectively,” Barclift said. “I learned a lot, and it really helped me.”
Barclift initially chose NCMC because he received a scholarship and planned only to complete a two-year degree. Since arriving at NCMC, however, students and faculty members have inspired and encouraged him to continue his education beyond an associate degree.
Each month, an NCMC student is nominated by a faculty or staff member to be recognized as an Outstanding Student. Students are selected based on their dedication to educational success, attitude toward learning and hard work in their academic field and campus activities.
