Trenton’s Isaac Dixon put together a strong day on the court last week, earning a second-place finish in flight one singles at the Cameron Individual Tennis Tournament.

Dixon opened the tournament with a 6-2 win over Colby Dickmeier, of Higginsville, setting the tone for a successful run through the bracket. He continued his strong play in the next round, picking up a 6-1 victory over Anthony Tabor, of Leblond.

From there, Dixon kept his momentum going with a 6-3 win over Kaleb Smarr of Warrensburg. The victory moved him further into the tournament and gave him another chance to test himself against quality competition.

Dixon then advanced to the medal round with a 6-2 win over Adrian Parmenter of Lafayette. His consistency throughout the tournament helped him reach the championship match after four straight victories.

In the finals, Dixon faced Quin Dorrell of Kirksville. Dixon battled throughout the match but came up short, falling 6-3 and finishing second overall.

The runner-up finish highlighted the day for Trenton, which now stands at 3-8 on the season. The Bulldogs will compete in the Class 1 state tournament May 14-15.
