The Trenton High School boys golf team placed fifth out of 11 teams at the Lawson Coaches Boys Golf Tournament on March 25, led by an individual first-place finish from sophomore Drake Weaver.
Weaver earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par 74, giving Trenton the top individual performance of the tournament. His round helped the Bulldogs post a team score of 373 against a solid field of schools.
Logan Roberts finished with an 86 for Trenton and ended the day just outside the top 10 in the individual standings. His round was steady overall, but one difficult hole kept him from finishing higher.
Freshman Jace McCall shot a 98. After a tough start to his round, he settled in on the back nine and played with more consistency the rest of the way.
Trenton’s fifth-place finish reflected a competitive team effort, with Weaver’s round setting the pace for the Bulldogs. Finishing in the middle of an 11-team field, Trenton was able to put together a solid showing while also getting experience in tournament play as the season continues.
The Bulldogs will return to action April 8 at the Cameron Invitational.
