Hazardous Chemical Tier II Reports Due March 1; Public May Request Records

Submitted

The Green Hills Regional Planning District is reminding area facilities that annual Tier II hazardous chemical inventory reports are due March 1 under the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA).

Tier II reports are required for facilities that store hazardous chemicals at or above federal reporting thresholds at any time during the previous calendar year. The reports help local emergency responders plan for and respond to potential chemical incidents.

Facilities that are unsure whether they meet reporting thresholds or need assistance with filing requirements are encouraged to contact the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission for guidance.

In a related notice, the district also reminded residents that Tier II hazardous chemical inventory reports are available for public review in accordance with federal law.

Tier II reports provide information regarding hazardous chemicals stored at facilities within the district and are submitted annually under EPCRA requirements.

Members of the public who wish to request copies of Tier II reports must submit a written request to the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, 810 Washington St., Trenton, MO 64683, or call 660-359-5636.

Requests will be acknowledged within three business days, and responsive records will be provided within 30 days, consistent with applicable law.

Officials said the Green Hills Regional Planning District remains committed to supporting community awareness and emergency preparedness.
