The Grundy County Food Pantry recently surprised longtime volunteer Mary Lou Crawford with a special birthday celebration, marking her remarkable milestone of turning 100 years old. The party, held on Thursday, November 20th, brought together fellow volunteers and community members to honor Mary Lou’s years of dedicated service. Mary Lou’s actual birthday is November 25th.

For many years, Mary Lou has played an important role in the pantry’s distribution days, assisting local residents in signing up for vital food programs. Her kindness and commitment have made her a beloved figure within the community, and the Chamber of Commerce awarded her the title of pillar of the community in 2015.

The Crawford family invites all Grundy County residents to join them in celebrating Mary Lou’s centennial birthday at an open house on November 29, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Christian Church fellowship hall in Trenton. Guests are encouraged to share memories and well-wishes, but the family kindly requests no gifts.
