Trenton Wins Heading Into Districts

The Trenton Bulldogs traveled to Lone Jack to face the Mules Friday night.
Trenton had a record of 2-6, while Lone Jack stood at 1-7. Trenton ultimately won the game 42-7, improving the Bulldogs’ record to 3-6.
Trenton started the game on defense and stopped the Mules’ first drive, forcing a punt on their opening possession. The Bulldogs responded with a touchdown by Elijah Miller for six points, and toward the end of the quarter, Bradley Miller added another touchdown and a successful two-point conversion. This brought the score to 14-0.
In the second quarter, Bradley Miller broke free for a 25-yard run, followed by a 31-yard run from Cooper Houser. These plays gave Trenton good field position for Bradley Miller to score another touchdown. With a successful kick, the score was 21-0. The quarter ended with a 38-yard touchdown run by Elijah Miller, and another successful kick brought the halftime score to 28-0.
The third quarter began with Trenton receiving the ball. The Bulldogs spent most of the quarter driving down the field but were unable to score, turning the ball over on downs. After a defensive stand, Trenton regained possession and scored with a run by Cooper Houser. With another successful point after, the score was 35-0 heading into the fourth quarter.
The final quarter began with Trenton on defense. The Mules scored their first touchdown halfway through the quarter with a pass into the end zone, followed by a successful kick to make it 35-7. Trenton spent the remainder of the game driving toward the end zone, scoring on a quarterback keeper by Bradley Miller with under two minutes left. The final score was 42-7.
Next week, Trenton heads into district play against Cameron, which has a 5-4 record and have defeated teams such as Chillicothe and Oak Grove. The game will be at Cameron, with gates opening at 5:00 and kickoff at 7:00.
