Grand River Garden Club Meets

Ginny Johns shared pictures and her knowledge of bulb planting at the Grand River Garden Club meeting Monday, October 20, 2025, on the deck of her home at Leisure Lake.

Flowers discussed were daffodils, jonquils, crocus, allium and tulips, both perennials and non-perennials and the species. Mrs. Johns talked about planting and fertilizing. She demonstrated how to plant bulbs in a large container and discussed square foot planting.

Mrs. Johns handed out flower and garden items she had purchased at past garden club members’ recent auction. She also announced she hoped to get tulips planted this week at the Civil War Statute at the courthouse.

First place for door prize winner was new member Trish Miller and second place was a tie between Diana Hoppe and Connie Metzgar.

Dorothy Taul, president, asked what trait each member looks for in a friend for roll call. Mary Ritko, 1320 Summit St., was winner of the Yard of the Month and the business beautification award was given to Main St. Mercantile at 905 Main, Trenton, Linda Lamp announced.

The next meeting will be at Pizza Hut at noon Nov. 17. Marilyn Booth will give a program on Christmas cactus.

Members attending included Mrs. Johns, Mrs. Lamp, Mrs. Booth, Ms. Taul, Mrs. Hoppe, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Metzgar, Nancy George, Laura Ewing, Karalyn Thompson, Kim Telkamp, and Doris Provorse.
