Arraignment on Assault Charge Postponed to October

A Gilman City man charged with felony assault is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 15 after a Grundy County court judge granted a request to postpone his September hearing.
Brayden S. Hughs faces one count of third-degree assault involving a special victim, a Class D felony, and one count of first-offense peace disturbance, a Class B misdemeanor. Both charges stem from alleged offenses June 21, according to court records. The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is listed as the investigating agency.
Hughs’ arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the main courtroom of the Grundy County Courthouse, 700 Main St. in Trenton.
The hearing was originally scheduled for Sept. 10. The defense filed a motion for continuance Sept. 7, which the court granted Sept. 9.
Bond was set Aug. 11 at $100,000 cash only, with conditions including GPS monitoring and no contact with the alleged victim or victims.
