University of Missouri Extension will offer Walk with Ease in Trenton this fall to help adults safely incorporate physical activity into their daily routines.
Classes will meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 through Nov. 19 at the Ketcham Community Center, 1322 Mable St.
The walking program is open to adults who want to become more active, including those with arthritis. Each session includes tips for walking safely and staying active, a warm-up, walking at participants’ own pace and a cool-down.
According to MU Extension, the program can help improve balance, strength and walking pace while reducing arthritis pain and discomfort.
“Sometimes it can be hard to take that first step toward being more active,” said Micah Potgieter, nutrition and health specialist with University of Missouri Extension.“Walking with a group can provide support and encouragement to help people get started, stay motivated and make walking a regular part of their routine.”
