Grundy County Democratic Club Forms for Year-Round Involvement

Grundy County residents met virtually Sept. 9 to organize the Grundy County Democratic Club, an informal group intended to offer year-round opportunities for community involvement and political participation.

The club will complement the work of the Grundy County Democratic Central Committee, which has traditionally concentrated much of its activity around election seasons.

The club plans to hold monthly meetings and organize community activities, encourage civic engagement and support Democratic policies and candidates. Organizers also identified building connections among left-leaning residents and contributing to the welfare of Grundy County as goals.

Casey Scott, the Democratic candidate for Missouri House District 2, addressed the group during the recent meeting. Scott discussed developing local connections and resources to help inform and support current and future Democratic candidates in the area.

The club’s first public activity will be a drop-in, postcard-writing event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Main Street Creamery in Trenton.

Participants may stop by or stay for the entire event to write postcards to Grundy County voters about the Nov. 3 election.

The club will meet via Zoom at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, with additional activities planned throughout the year.

Residents interested in meeting and event updates may complete an interest form at tiny.cc/grundydems and/or join the Grundy.
