Grundy County Democrats to Hear Candidates, Plan Missouri Day Activities

The Grundy County Democrats will hear from two state legislative candidates and plan Missouri Day Festival activities during their meeting at noon Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Pizza Hut in Trenton.

Judy McNeese, a candidate for the Missouri Senate, and Casey Scott, a candidate for the Missouri House of Representatives, are scheduled to speak.

Members will discuss plans for the Democratic booth at the fairgrounds during the Missouri Day Festival Oct. 16-17, along with parade entries for Oct. 17.

At the group’s August reorganization meeting, the Central Committee elected Marie Dolan as chair, Dan Dennis as vice chair and Cindy Guthrie as secretary.

Carla O’Connor was elected as Trenton Fourth Ward committee person and Dorothy Taul as Madison Township’s committee person. Sam and Cathie Smith also were elected to fill committee positions representing Trenton’s Third Ward.

Josh Smead, a candidate for Missouri’s Sixth Congressional District, is planning an October bus tour throughout the district, according to the group. Scott and McNeese are expected to join him for the local portion of the tour. Tour dates are still being finalized and will be announced when available.
